theme for this week is to discuss what role play has in socialization.
This piece shows preparation on the parts of the dancers
along with the orchestra. The coordinated steps draw in the audience who join
in with hand claps, yelps of “ooh” and laughter. There is a slight ritard just before the final
iteration of the dance which has an accelerando to the end.
The music and dance provide such a happy backdrop for the audience that they automatically feel a sense of belonging and participate in the revelry. Had the music been slower or lack gaiety, there may have been a different response and the social aspect would be lost on the audience.
